Making Tea

During this experiment we noticed that on cold water the atoms that the tea had (scent, color) were moving slowly around while in the hot water the atoms moved slowly and the color spread through the water quicker. We got to the conclusion that the heat energy makes the atoms spread faster from the tea bag than they did in cold water, and from what we learned in class atoms move when they obtain energy, and that is why we cant see them during experiments, that how we discovered that what the tea had were atoms.

On Hot Water:

  • the bag is bloated up
  • the scent releases from the bag instantly
  • the color on the tea bag changed
  • heat energy changes the atoms on the tea
On Cold Water:
  • The tea bag floats at the start
  • the scent releases slowly
  • atoms on the liquid are slowly moving

Potential/Kinetic Energy

Potential and Kinetic energy is how everything around us works, moves and transforms.

There are many forms of energy, light, thermal, gravitational, elastic, mechanical, electric, chemical, sound and nuclear. Every form of energy is correspondent to a type of energy.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed, for example, in a flashlight, chemical enegy from the batteries to mechanical energy for when the flashlight is being turned on then creates light and thermal energy. Kinetic and Potential energy are the only energy types.

Potential energy is stored inside a object like food, that when you eat it you obtain its energy, the human body obtains most of its energy from food. Kinetic energy is the energy of movement, for example when your turning on a stove, its kinetic energy. It starts of as chemical from the gasoline, mechanical when your turning it on and it becomes light/thermal energy.

It is important to know about energy because without any knowledge about energy we cant create or inovate technology, we wont be able to know what everything around us is and how it works.

TRACKER blog post

What I learned....
I learned that velocity and different types of energy such as potential and kinetic energy can be written down in a graph, they can be measured and compared I also learned that accuracy is important while doing this type of experiments, I noticed this when using the app and having to identity how much a meter was.

how does the kinetic energy of an object affect the speed of an object?
The kinetic energy of an object affects the speed by how fast it goes, the gravitational energy that had the car during the car and ramp experiment while it went down the ramp affected the speed by the force it had and how the gravity forced the car down the ramp in a different speed depending on how high the ramp was.
